I played my first out of industry gig for a rave promoter that heard me jamming
and wanted to bring my vibe to his party. I played a 2-hour set and had a
great response and had the people rocking on the dance floor. In the summer of
2000 Phish was playing a show in Toronto. I printed up 10,000 flyers and
promoted in the Phish parking lot for an after Phish gratefully deadicated party
at Industry nightclub. I got 600 people out to the club and I rocked out my
first real gig. Later that summer I volunteered to play for free at an
outdoor hippie/rave dance party. I set up a sound system and rocked out form
9:00PM TO 6:00 AM. It was an outdoor 9-hour set that gave me the opportunity
to share my love of the grateful dead with lots of people.
